After breakfast, visit Wat Sene, Luang Prabang’s oldest monastery, followed by the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, regarded as the finest example of classical Lao temple architecture.

Board a traditional boat for a scenic cruise upstream along the Mekong River to the sacred Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues placed by pilgrims over many centuries.

En route, stop at Ban Xang Hai, a riverside village renowned for producing traditional Lao rice whisky (Lao Lao).

In the afternoon, continue by road to the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfalls. Along the way, visit ethnic minority villages and gain insight into the rich cultural diversity of Northern Laos.

Enjoy time to swim in the crystal-clear turquoise pools, relax amidst the lush forest, or follow the walking trails to the upper cascades.

Nearby, you may also visit the Bear Rescue Centre, which protects rescued Asiatic black bears and promotes wildlife conservation.

Return to Luang Prabang for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, transfer to Luang Prabang Railway Station and board the Laos-China high-speed train for the journey north to Oudomxay Province.

Home to more than twenty ethnic groups, Oudomxay is one of Laos’ most culturally diverse provinces and is renowned for its mountainous landscapes and unspoiled forests.

Upon arrival, transfer to the eco-friendly Namkat Yolapa Resort, beautifully nestled beside the Nam Kat River within a protected rainforest.

After checking in, enjoy a gentle guided walk through the forest to Nam Kat Waterfall, where cascading waters and peaceful surroundings provide the perfect introduction to the region’s natural beauty.

This morning, travel toward Pak Khai, passing scenic rice terraces, mountain streams, and traditional villages along the Nam Pak River.

Begin a guided trek through tropical rainforest, following mountain trails shaded by towering trees and lush vegetation.

Meet local farmers along the route and learn about traditional farming methods, fishing techniques, and everyday life in the mountains.

After approximately 90 minutes, arrive at Ban Phavie, a picturesque Khmu village perched on a hillside. Enjoy lunch with the local community while learning about one of Laos’ largest ethnic groups and their unique traditions.

Continue to nearby waterfalls where, weather permitting, you may relax or swim in refreshing natural pools before returning to Namkat Yolapa Resort in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, enjoy a short walk through a nearby Khmu village, offering another opportunity to observe traditional rural life before transferring to the railway station.

Board the high-speed train for the journey to Luang Namtha, one of Laos’ leading destinations for eco-tourism and community-based travel.

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in.

Later, visit the Luang Namtha Museum (closed on weekends), where exhibits of traditional clothing, farming tools, musical instruments, and handicrafts provide valuable insight into the province’s many ethnic communities.

Continue to Ban Nam Dee, home to the Lanten ethnic group, renowned for its traditional papermaking, lantern craftsmanship, and distinctive cultural heritage. Nearby, visit the peaceful Nam Dee Waterfall, a beautiful natural setting ideal for relaxation.

Return to Luang Namtha for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, travel north to Muang Sing, a charming frontier town close to the borders of China and Myanmar.

Along the scenic drive, stop to visit several ethnic minority villages, including communities of the Akha and Lanten peoples. Your guide will explain their unique customs, traditional architecture, clothing, and agricultural practices.

After lunch, continue exploring the region with visits to That Xieng Tung Stupa, Ban Nam Ded, Ban Nam Mai (a Yao village), and the Pang Thong border checkpoint, where you can view the Laos–China frontier.

Return to Luang Namtha in the late afternoon.

The evening is free to relax or explore the town at your own pace.

After breakfast, depart for Huay Xai, the gateway between Laos and Northern Thailand.

Along the way, visit Ban Nam Chang, home to the Lao Huay ethnic community, before continuing to Ban Poung, a traditional Tai Lue village known for producing Lao Lao, the country’s famous rice whisky made from sticky rice.

Learn about the villages’ customs, architecture, and daily way of life before continuing to Huay Xai, where your tour concludes either at your hotel or at the Lao immigration checkpoint for onward travel to Thailand.
